The beginning

  • 1916 : Creation of the Chemical Park (in Pont-de-Claix, south of Grenoble, France), with the first chlorine production plants
  • 1950-1960 : Production of propylene-based petrochemicals

 

 

Development of isocyanates chemistry

Development

  • 1962 : First TDI production unit
  • 1975 : Rhône-Poulenc acquired Pont-De-Claix site
  • 1978 : First production of HDI monomer
  • 1983 : First Tolonate™ plant in Pont-de-Claix
  • 1989 : New Tolonate™ plant in Freeport, TX (USA)
  • 1995 : Lyondell (former ARCO) took over the TDI business of Rhône-Poulenc

 

Team

  • 1997 : New Easaqua™ (formerly Rhodocoat™) unit
  • 1999 : Rhône-Poulenc Group’s speciality chemicals subsidiary became Rhodia
  • 2001 : New TDI unit in Pont-de-Claix
  • 2008 : Perstorp took over the TDI and the aliphatic isocyanates from Rhodia / Lyondell

  • 2012 : Creation of Vencorex, JV between PTT GC & Perstorp
